Disclosures and recognition

Recognising our progress

We are committed to being a leader in sustainability in the beverage industry. We set high performance targets for ourselves and believe it is important to report on our progress. Our sustainability performance is assessed by a range of major sustainability indices, responsible investment analysts and other external organisations.

This includes direct engagement via questionnaires, in-depth interviews, desk research and analysis of our publicly disclosed data and sustainability information. Ratings allow investors to assess and track our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance against objective industry benchmarks. We use the results to help us strengthen our management systems and sustainability reporting processes.

Here are highlights of our latest rankings, awards and recognition:

The Sustainability Yearbook 2019

The Sustainability Yearbook is based on results from the CSA. This year, it awarded 220 medals to those companies achieving the best sustainability performance compared to peers in their respective industries. We received the Silver Class Award, placing us within the range of 1%-5% of the top scoring companies in our industry for sustainability performance.

Manjit Jus, Global Head ESG Research and Data: “We congratulate Coca-Cola European Partners on its Silver Award in The Sustainability Yearbook 2020, which showcases the best performing companies among industry peers and in terms of financially material ESG metrics. As the Corporate Sustainability Assessment constantly raises the bar, so the Yearbook remains a highly credible source of corporate sustainability insights. This year it is launched under the S&P Global brand, and with increased public access to the SAM ESG Scores of all companies.”

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

CDP is an international non-profit charity that encourages companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. CDP’s annual A List names the world’s top businesses for environmental performance, based on their disclosures. We have submitted responses to the CDP Climate list since 2010 and to its water questionnaire since 2012. In 2016, we were added to the CDP A-List for Climate and Water, and we retained this position in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In being one of only 37 companies globally to be awarded a double CDP A-list position for both Climate and Water in 2019 and one of three which has achieved this transformative position for four consecutive years, this represents a clear direction of travel, with sustainability at the core of our business strategy.

We were also named as a Supplier Engagement Leader in 2019.
