We have a strong sustainability agenda and we are taking action across a number of identified areas. Our ambitious plan in Europe, launched in 2017 in partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, places sustainability at the heart of our business strategy.
At the end of 2020 we announced our ambition to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain in Europe by 2040.
We want to grow our business in a way that manages our social and environmental impacts responsibly. As Coca-Cola Europacific Partners we will go further together on sustainability.
Our net zero by 2040 ambition
- Net zero
- Absolute GHG reduction
- Engage with suppliers
We’ll reduce absolute GHG emissions across our value chain by 30% in Europe by 2030 (vs 2019)
This target has been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) as being in line with a 1.5˚C reduction pathway as recommended by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
We’ll ask suppliers to set their own science-based GHG emissions targets and use 100% renewable electricity by 2023
Our focus will be on reducing emissions across our entire value chain – from the raw ingredients we source and the packaging we use, to the drinks we sell. However, we can’t achieve this alone. Over 90% of our GHG emissions are related to the activities of our suppliers, so we will be supporting them to:
- Set their own science-based GHG emissions reduction targets by 2023
- Use 100% renewable electricity across their operations by 2023
- Share their carbon footprint data with us
Key sustainability targets in Europe
Low and no calorie drinks
We’ll aim for 50% of our sales to come from low or no calorie drinks by 2025.
Recyclability & collection
We’ll make sure that 100% of our packaging is recyclable or reusable by 2025.
We’ll collect 100% of our packaging by 2025, including support for well-designed deposit return systems.
Recycled PET
We’ll ensure that at least 50% of the material we use for our PET bottles comes from recycled plastic by 2023 and we’ll aim to reach 100% in the future.

Together with The Coca-Cola Company in Western Europe, we’ve created This is Forward – our sustainability action plan.
This is Forward is an ambitious plan that sets out three action areas on drinks, packaging and society, and three supporting actions on water, climate and supply chain, with a series of clear, measurable targets for each of these areas.
CCEP is committed to being a leader in sustainability in the beverage industry. We set high performance targets for ourselves and believe it is important to report on our progress. CCEP’s sustainability performance is assessed by a range of major sustainability indices, responsible investment analysts and other external organisations.
