As part of our strategy to help build a better future for our business, for people and the planet, we have today signed the Uniting Business and Governments to Recover Better business statement, a call to action for business leaders and Governments globally to prioritise science-based climate action in their COVID-19 recovery efforts.

The statement has been convened by The Science Based Targets initiative, the UN Global Compact and the We Mean Business coalition.

Over 150 businesses have so far signed the statement, calling for a collaborative approach to economic recovery policy-making through a more sustainable and inclusive path, working towards science-based targets that set the world on a 1.5°C trajectory, in line with the Paris Agreement.

Damian Gammell, CEO of CCEP, said:

“Climate change is the world’s most urgent environmental challenge, and by signing the statement Uniting Business and Governments to Recover Better, I would like to see leaders from both come together to achieve long-lasting, transformative science-based climate solutions that support a sustainable recovery from the impact of COVID-19.

We have put sustainability at the very heart of the way we do business at Coca-Cola European Partners, and we have taken significant steps to reduce carbon emissions and help our climate. However, we know there is much more we can do, and we will continue to collaborate with our partners, stakeholders and communities to support the recovery process and harness our scale to deliver bold action on climate issues.”
