Water is an essential resource both for our own business and across our value chain. We treat water with the care it deserves, aiming to reduce our water consumption on a continual basis and protect local water sources for future generations.
Global water crises such as water scarcity are ranked among the highest risks to the economy and society.
CCEP depends on a sustainable and high quality supply of water. Not only is water the main ingredient in many of our products, it’s also essential for our manufacturing processes, and for growing the agricultural ingredients we depend upon.
To address water scarcity challenges and take care of our water resources, we adopt a value chain approach to water management. We’re focused on reducing the water we use in our production facilities, including the safe return to nature of 100% of our wastewater. Our actions on water helps us to support UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.
Our 2022 onwards commitments
- Regenerative Operation
- Healthy Watershed
- Resilient Community
We aim to make our production facilities as water efficient as possible and we measure performance through our water use ratio.
We monitor our company-wide water use, setting annual targets and identifying opportunities to reduce our consumption.
We’re continuing to invest in water saving systems in leadership locations to make our manufacturing and cleaning processes more water efficient.
We’ll protect the sustainability of the water sources we use for future generations through water replenishment activities, in alignment with high water stress, high vulnerability assessment, such as infiltration well, trees planting, and bio pores.
We ensure that 100% of our wastewater is safely returned to nature. Before water is discharged from any of our manufacturing sites, we apply the highest standards of treatment.
We will continue to support and create access to clean water, and enhance community resilience, in partnership with local NGOs and community groups.
Our progress in 2021
of production facilities have implemented water management plans (WMPs)
reduction in the amount of water used to make one litre of product since 2014
water we used, we replenish back to the environment in 2020
Establish ‘ Embung Grigak ’ to Support Water Sustainability During Dry Season For People In Gunungkidul
Through Coca Cola Foundation Indonesia (CCFI), the Coca Cola system in Indonesia (Coca Cola Indonesia and Coca Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia) has implemented community water programs across the country, including the establishment of embung (water reservoir) in Grigak beach, Gunungkidul Regency. The barren area composed mostly of limestone hills which makes it hard for farmer to obtain water. Building infrastructure such as Embung Grigak , we are seeking to help address various issues at the local community level, particularly concerning access to water. We hope the embung can help provide adequate water especially for agriculture and provide long term economic benefit.
