As one of the world's leading consumer goods companies, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia (CCEP Indonesia), is committed to creating a positive impact on the environment and people's welfare. One manifestation of this commitment is contained in the Dukung Aksi Pilihanku program which provides an opportunity for employees to nominate organizations in the field of sustainability to receive donations of funds that will be used to expand the scope of the initiatives being carried out.

This program is a continuation of an initiative run by CCEP as a Group, Support My Cause, which has supported 44 local foundations spread across Europe with an investment of more than EUR 200,000. This year, the Support My Cause program was expanded to all CCEP operational areas, including Indonesia.

Malu Dong Buang Sampah Sembarangan Foundation, is one of the foundations that was nominated and received the most votes for the Support Action My Choice 2022 program by Made Putra Pranata, as Corporate Affairs Manager of CCEP Indonesia for the Bali region. The foundation, which was initiated by Komang Sudiarta in 2009, was nominated because it has a vision that is in line with the company's commitment to dealing with waste problems in Indonesia.

“I see that the activities carried out by the Malu Dong Foundation for Discarding Garbage Carelessly on waste management education can support Indonesia's CCEP target to help reduce waste leakage into the sea and build a circular economy from recycling plastic waste. I believe that by supporting the right foundation, we can see tangible results for the better,” said Made Pranata.

About Malu Dong Buang Sampah Sembarangan Foundation

Komang Sudiarta, who is fondly called Om Bemo, built Malu Dong because of the growing issue of garbage in Bali. After wandering in America for a long time, Om Bemo saw many people littering. Because of the shame and concern, Om Bemo started picking up trash in every place he visited by carrying the Malu Dong flag which contained an image of a facial expression symbol or an embarrassed emoticon. By picking up trash, Om Bemo wants to show young people the importance of having the habit of throwing garbage in its place and conveying a message to the government to be more concerned about waste management issues.

After going through many obstacles and rejections, the Malu Dong Buang Sampah Sembarangan Foundation was officially launched to the public on April 23, 2016. Currently, the foundation has more than 175 members and 468 flags have been flown in 4 sub-district offices, 43 villages, and 420 banjar in Denpasar.

Dukung Aksi Pilihanku Donation Handover

On November 4, 2022, CCEP Indonesia handed over a donation of EUR 12,500 or equivalent to Rp 186,250,000 which was represented by Lucia Karina, as Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability Director of CCEP Indonesia and Papua New Guinea to Komang Sudiarta as founder of the Malu Dong Foundation.

“Through the Support Action My Choice program, we focus on two things at once; build employee awareness of social and environmental issues by involving them directly, and encourage changes in behavior and the quality of society by supporting the activities of credible foundations," said Lucia Karina.

The donation received will be used by the Malu Dong Buang Sampah Sembarangan Foundation to expand educational activities related to waste management for the community, especially school-age children.

Komang Sudiarta stated “The waste problem needs to be handled from upstream, namely through education to change people's views on waste, so that people can sort, utilize, and reduce it. The waste problem is a problem that must be solved jointly by all parties,” he said.
