Paradise Beverages, Fiji’s leading alcohol beverages manufacturer, has announced through the Fiji Bitter brand that it will continue as the headline sponsor of the 46th Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens.
Paradise Beverages General Manager Sales & Corporate Affairs, Joe Rodan, said, “We’ve spent 46 years in developing grass roots rugby with the iconic Fiji Bitter brand and the Marist Rugby Club, it is a significant achievement of great partnership which started with only 5 cartons of beer as the major prize and has now grown to more than $50,000 worth of sponsorship in cash and kind with a total sponsorship of more than $250,000 to organise the event.”
Every year players are identified by club sides as potential prospects, in some cases they’ve had the opportunity to move onto the national sevens teams and in some cases, utilise their skills at rugby clubs abroad.
“It’s a blessing to be a part of this incredible platform that showcases the God given talents of our rugby players and to see them grow in a sport where they can potentially become professional rugby players.”
“The sponsorship has not only paved a pathway for rugby players to showcase their talents to the world, but it has also helped communities,” says Rodan.
This tournament now features 48 men’s teams, eight women’s team and 16 U-21 teams playing in more than 100 games over the 3-day event, which begins on Thursday 24th March and finishes on Saturday 26th March.
The three-day tournament is now the biggest annual rugby event on the Fiji rugby calendar.
