By striving to meet our commitments on packaging, water, energy and carbon reduction, we aim to leave a positive legacy and ensure minimal impact on the environment.
As a leading beverage manufacturer in New Zealand, we're committed to understand and minimising the impacts our operations may have on our environment.
Investing in our Packaging
We’re committed to waste reduction, recycling, collection and innovation of packaging that are focused on where we can make the most difference.
Made from Recycled Plastic
All our plastic bottles smaller than 1 litre and water bottles across all sizes are made from entirely recycled plastic in New Zealand. This means over half of the plastic bottles produced by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners in New Zealand are made from recycled plastic.
World Without Waste
This move is part of Coca-Cola’s global commitment to a World Without Waste, and to increase recycled content and make all its bottles and cans recyclable and an extension to both company’s commitment to the Ministry for the Environment’s Plastic Packaging Declaration.
All Packaging is 100% Recyclable
In New Zealand, all of our plastic bottles, aluminium cans and glass packaging are 100% recyclable. This means after its use, our bottles have a chance to have another life as a bottle if put into the right bin.
We believe partnerships and collective action are necessary to deliver both a more sustainable business and a more sustainable future. We are committed to doing our part to ensure best practice through combined support with industry peers, government, iwi and the community.
Container Return Scheme
We support the establishment of a container return scheme that is well run, industry led and not-for-profit. We are open to working with Government, industry and other stakeholders to create a world-leading container return scheme in New Zealand, that will accelerate our transition towards a circular economy.
Plastics Packaging Declaration
We’re proud to be a signatory on the Ministry for the Environment’s New Zealand Plastic Packaging Declaration, committing to using 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging across our operations by 2025 or earlier.
Public Place Recycling Scheme
We will continue to be part of and support the Public Place Recycling Scheme which has helped install over 2400 public place recycling bins across the country.
The Coca-Cola Foundation have provided a grant to local environmental group Sea Cleaners worth over $300,000NZD every year since 2018. More than 4.8 million pieces of marine litter will be removed from waterways around Auckland in 2021 alone as a result.
Carbon and Water
We are committed to net zero targets on our carbon and water emissions.
Zero Carbon Emissions
We have an ambition to reach Net Zero direct carbon emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 2040.
100% Renewable Electricity
We continue use 100% renewable electricity in our operations and are seeking to improve the energy efficiency of our manufacturing plants and the coolers that we supply to many of our customers.
Sustainable Water Operations
Sustain our net zero water operations by being water stewards; only sourcing from sustainable water sources, also considering community needs, and improving vulnerability assessments, management plans, measurement, reporting and transparency for communities. This includes, using water carefully and efficiently in our operations and focus on re-use opportunities.
