The annual One Young World Summit – taking part in Belfast, Northern Ireland from 2-5 October - brings together the brightest young leaders from over 190 countries and more than 250 organisations, working to accelerate social impact. From our CCEP Australia team, we are proud that Project Consultant Lucy Toulmin is one of the 21 CCEP colleagues from across the globe who was selected through a rigorous process to attend the Summit.
Next month, Lucy and other CCEP colleagues will participate in four transformative days of speeches, workshops and networking. Throughout the Summit, all delegates are counselled by influential political, business, and humanitarian leaders. The Summit is the ultimate place to be inspired, share learnings, and make lasting connections with other young leaders from around the globe.
Ahead of the Summit, we spoke with Lucy about the exciting professional development opportunity ahead:
What made you apply for One Young World?
"When I read the invitation to apply for One Young World 2023, I was captivated by the opportunity to connect with other young leaders locally and abroad to discuss topics I’m really passionate about, and learn from them what they’re doing in their lives and workplaces."
Which speaker are you particularly looking forward to hearing from, and why?
"I’m looking forward to hearing from Adwoa Aboah, who founded the mental health charity & podcast Gurls Talk. She speaks publicly about her own challenges with depression and has created a community where women can speak frankly about their experiences."
Is there a Summit topic you’re passionate about, and why?
"Definitely the Climate Emergency challenge, and the ‘Ambassador in Action’ sessions which features OYW members recognised for making change. There will be attendees from different countries, companies, and backgrounds, so I’m excited about listening to ideas and examples of ways that people are making a difference in their communities. I’d like to come back inspired and prepared to create change."
A huge congratulations and good luck to Lucy for qualifying and representing CCEP Australia. We look forward to you returning as a One Young World Ambassador with the means and motivation to make a difference!
